fourth of july

2017

Of all the graphics I’ve created for Studio 92 over the years, this one (one of the earliest ones) has had the most enduring life. Originally designed for a Fourth of July dance showcase in 2017, it’s become an annual classic, reprinted year after year, with every print run quickly selling out.

Sarah wanted something lighthearted to capture the energy of Snyder’s Fourth of July festival, one of the town’s biggest and most beloved events. The 4th in the Park is more than just fireworks; it’s a full-scale homecoming, with friends and families returning to gather, celebrate, and reconnect.

Rather than go the route of literal patriotic iconography, I opted for a more adjacent, memory-driven symbol: a popsicle. Specifically, the kind of bomb pop you’d buy from a stand in the park. The visual language is simple and iconic: the easily recognizable popsicle shape, a limited red-white-and-blue palette, but with one twist: I intentionally mis-registered the color fills to evoke the charm of vintage screen prints, giving the graphic a playful, handmade feel.

The Studio 92 “92” mark is stamped proudly on the popsicle’s surface, turning a summer treat into a piece of brand storytelling: approachable, festive, and unmistakably local.
